Is Microsoft’s new campaign to get you to use their IM service. You download Windows Live Messenger, you choose a charity listed, and they will donate unspecified amount of money to that charity. The will not put a cap on the funds raised and each charity’s Microsoft Messenger page has a theme pack you can additionally download. The organizations Microsoft is helping are: American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Club, Humane Society, National Aids Fund, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, NineMillon.org, Sierra Club, Stop Global Warming.org, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Unicef.

Have others do it for you. JustGive.org created a way for the engaged couple to add charities to their wedding registry. The couple signs up for the charities they wish to support and their guests can go onto the site to donate.

The International Rescue Committee has a petiton to sign to tell congress to-
- Fund programs that prevent violence and respond to incidents of rape against women and girls
- Support efforts to help women and girls recover their dignity, health, livelihood, and families
- Include anti-sexual violence initiatives in relevant international assistance programs

A green world that is. Greenpeace has a campaign where you write to Steve Jobs and take a picture of you hugging your mac to encourage Apple to “go green”. Consider this the new way to be a tree hugger.

Folding @ Home is a small program you install on your computer. It works in the background and helps Stanford University fold proteins. I don’t know much about science but this program is helping these awesome people to cure Alzheimer’s Disease, Cancer, Huntington’s Disease, and others.
